The Sun

You're like the sun
Giving your kisses
Keeping your distance
As you gently leave my skin sunkissed
With each kiss warm and comforting
So I resist moving
Despite knowing the outcome
The longer I stay
The more it hurts
As your kisses become more harsh
I have to leave
Please understand I can't stay
Take your glaring eyes off me
As my skin is left sunburnt
You had to leave
Only to come back the next day
And remind me of how
You're warm and comforting

Stardust Sailor

I am a stardust sailor. I sail through the dust of what we were. The complete remnants of our memories that continue to swirl in my mind. Sometimes with only a few specs and other times with a swarm of glitter all too fast like how it all ended.

I follow the stardust that leads me to where you are. Somewhere in the stars.
You are a warmth that I have longed for more than anything else. The whole world was blue the moment you left and continued to change to darker shades of cold.

With your fading trace of stardust I quicken my pace. Hoping that the wind of change would once again direct my sails to you. However, the air remains cold and still. As all the stardust fades away and I realise all this time I've been sailing for nothing because you're gone.

Abstract Art

You are an abstract work of art
Everybody has their different opinions
To how your blend of stokes and personality
Are either beautiful or messy

Some may hate you
Others may love you for what you are
Someone who changes the way they see the world
With the swirls of your hair

I have never understood art
So that's why I never figured you out
How some days you're such a joy
And others you're confusing

But I do hope
That through the sketches
And the many colours
You love how you painted yourself

A New Year

Usher in a new year
With new beginnings
A fresh start
To not dwell on what was not done
But commemorate what was
A blank canvas rolls outward before you
Your hands quiver at the thought of change
But some things still stay the same
Like lips unkissed on new years day
Or the start of lonely lips
Ears that dread the coming ring of alarms
Bodies that only wake up to late mornings
Or early afternoons
And broken new years resolutions
By the first week of January

Wash Your Hands

It's obvious you did
As your eyes moved around like two big flies
Flies that are trying to escape
But are confined to the sockets of your eyes

And what you did showed in your hands
Uneasy, it clenched and unclenched
Like a Venus fly trap but you're the fly
Wash your hands

Get rid of all the dirt
Get rid of the evidence
Wiped out like the love I had for you
Wash your hands

Keep it to yourself
I don't want to be involved with the chase
The chase between your guilt and pride
Who gives up first?
Wash your hands

Keeping Balance

"Lighten up will you?" he says with a smile that lights up my world.
I'm not sure whether what is happening is real. I've got so good at pretending I seem to have forgotten how to stop. If this day is real then I'm afraid. This means that tomorrow I'm going to have a really bad day.
I believe in a balance of things. When things are too good to be true then you'll have to make up for it by having a day too bad to be true. From the moment I wake up the next day, everything would be out of my favour. Happiness is only temporary so what's the point of enjoying it?
I smile back, concealing my worries for the next day while he shows no signs of worry at all.

Craving

I crave for you
Like a chocolate bar
At half past two
A feeling rather bizarre

A want to be the reason
Behind your smile
Or maybe your beacon
Someone you'll walk for miles

You are a need
And not a want
To keep me breathing
But you stop my heart
